Better yet: please unload ProTools to another company, like Universal Audio maybe? Thank you in advance. Then go play with your stock market money, your only interest in the first place.

+ 1000. Whatever happened to companies that were run by people who actually have experience with the product that they were selling and the marketplace that they were selling to?

They are out there, not in here. IMHO AVID is and has been Pro Tools' own worst enemy. By being in the stock market and having to answer to shareholders especially with a niche product (HD) and in this economy, the ONLY focus of those making the driving decisions are bean counters and marketing departments. They are only concerned with this quarter's bottom line. It's not unique to AVID, but Pro Tools should be driven by a small company without the concerns of the stock market as it's bottom line and driven instead by it's user base and customer service.

Again, JMHO, but having Louis Hernandez resign will only net another figurehead that will have to do the bidding of the boardroom. I also believe that the current business model is written in stone until AVID decides that Pro Tools isn't worth the hassle any longer and drops it, or sells it to it's next owner that hopefully won't be on the stock market.

Actually, Avid bought Digidesign in 1995, and they were already public by then. So Pro Tools has been part of a public company for over 20 years. I agree that the bean counters are driving the bus though.

Bring back Dave LeBolt!!

It's funny, I've been saying this on Twitter for about six months.

Good point. However It will take a lot for me to change my mind at this point. PTHD12 will get its bugs worked out. It may take a year, you are right, but if that year is like the past six months then it would be no better for Mr. H. There will still be loads of disgruntled users with grievances.

I actually think Adobe is sitting watching this whole thing implode and planning to snatch Pro Tools after a fire sale ensues.

It would make sense - let Avid do the hard work of converting a licensing system to subscription, and tie their own noose.

Why Adobe? Their biggest competitor for Premiere (Video/Post), was Final Cut until Apple's misstep...at which point Adobe offered competitive upgrades for Final Cut defectors (and took them with open arms). Now the only real post environment competitor is...Media Composer..and with Final Cut's tanking Adobe took their spot in the high end video/post production world...Funny huh?

Adobe has all the pieces except for a real audio editing suite. Now that Apple has apparently starting caring for and watering the garden that is Logic X again...what would Adobe's next logical (pun intended) move be? Exactly - Grab Pro Tools to snuff out Apple's sales friendly Final Cut/Logic play, while they still have video market share over Final Cut...Premiere Pro and Pro Tools have a better fluid ring to it any ways!

Adobe also has the infrastructure to appease both the prosumer and professional, already moved their professional offerings (successfully) to the cloud/subscription and has GREAT customer service both for consumers and in the industry/enterprise accounts.

I'm just wondering why nobody has picked up on this yet. IMO, Adobe is sitting quietly waiting and just waiting for the moment to pounce...but they know would be foolish to do it now (because unlike Avid, they are successful)...they would pay too much for a company that is imploding - better to wait for the value to implode too.
