Default Adjusting recording levels on tracks 5-9 with an 003 rack.

Besides using the mix window, I can not figure out how to adjust the record levels of tracks 5-9 using my 003 rack. There are only 4 input nobs for the levels, so is there a way I can assign those to inputs 5-9?
Thank you all very much for any help, and have a great day!!!

Only input channels 1-4 have preamps. If you want to use inputs 5-8 on your 003 you need to use external preamps. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

Inputs 5 thru 8 have a switch on the back that selects between -10 and +4 for each pair of inputs.

While you can switch between +4 for pro and -10 for consumer inputs, other than the preamps on inputs 1 to 4, you must regulate the record level at the source.

Cheers,

... Or somewhere between the source and the 003.

oh, ok. I had no idea that a separate pre amp would be needed. Thank you for the information. I hope for now the +4 will be sufficient.

Maybe it's not to late to look at the 003+ factory?

There is a way to adjust the volume of the channels 5-8

Here the steps:

1st: On Pro Tools, create 4 mono Aux Inputs (Aux tracks)
2nd: On each auxiliar track, set the inputs 5-8 and output buses 5-8 mono (or anyother avaliable bus MONO)
3rd: Create 4 mono audio tracks
4th: On each audio track, set the bus of output of each aux track e.g. aux 1, input 5 output bus 5, route the bus 5 to input of track 1 and out 1-2
5th: Do the same thing on others 3 tracks
6th: THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP: on each AUX MONO TRACK, insert a plugin called Other> TRIM. On trim, set +12db. With alt (option) key pressed, click on plugin trim and put on slot 2 of inserts, duplicating the plugin. You can do it from 2 until 5 times in each aux track, but with 2x inserteds TRIM (RTAS) in each track aux, press record enable in each audio track: BUM!! The magic is done, the plugin in aux track will increase the volume of channels 5-8, because it must be routed via aux input to audio tracks. Duplicate until 4-5x until you hear the desired volume and you have the control of aux volume also ;-)

Any doubts please write to [email protected] I will be glad to help you.
Regards
