Looks like some promising new features - Dark Mode for late nights, a free Audio>Midi plug-in, and new Bounce options. I was really hoping they would address the Folder Track problems. Didn't see anything in release notes.

But, I am going to go grab some popcorn as we now have new Mac-only hardware, with a AVID-only AVB implementation, at a time that Apple is about to fundamentally change their hardware platform. Should be very entertaining.

But mostly I hope they did not introduce new bugs in this version, so that I have to renew my licence in the hopes of getting these new features in a (relatively) bug free release some time next year. Rinse repeat. Quality control please!

Stay Safe

Dark Mode will certainly benefit me and others like me with windowless control rooms.

You can already bounce multiple sources (the plus sign is there on both pictures) but it's Ultimate only. I wonder if they will port that over to Standard in this release.

-Optimize Performance at Low Buffer Sizes Option(Mac Only)••

Well well well... if this finally lets me actually use my RayDAT at 32 buffer with virtual instruments, just like every other DAW on the planet on this machine that can do it with no issue, then I will be happy.

First new mac chip line just announced. First chip is M1 which maxes at 16GB RAM so probably next chip will be more on par with our needs.

Interesting claims though coming from Apple.

Where did you read that? Apple page says the chip "is packed with an astounding 16 billion transistors", which is not the same thing.

It's stated in multiple places on Apple.com, including in the order specs for all the Arm based machines. Who knows if the M1 might support more in future or not, but it's got what looks like custom memory packaging. So many questions there, is it DDR4, DDR5, etc. So I expect only soldered to Mobo or packaged multi-chip carrier solutions, so likely not at all user upgradeable. We'll see when these systems start being torn down.

As I said in another thread, for now the 16GB memory limit gives Avid more time to sort out their stuff... but I also hope they do mention an Arm roadmap on Thursday.

BTO options only have up to 16GB as an option. Base config is 8GB.

It’s listed in the specs and reported by numerous sites.
