You know what the biggest change to PT in 2024 should be? A better relationship between developer and users for feature requests.

The best thing that has happened to PT in many years is Marianna (along with some of her colleagues). She's changed my attitude to Avid, a human face to a seemingly soulless corporation who can see where intervention is needed, and acts.

This is a big clue of a way forward. Marianna is a fire-fighter, now time for some structrual changes for development. Ideascale was a good idea never really implemented. Avid Link is ad-hoc and seemingly toothless. Let's get a system going where users collectively have a voice. For a while Steinberg had an annual poll to vote on feature prirorities - it wasn't perfect, but it was a lot better than nothing. (In fact did Avid try something similar once?)

This thread is interesting and pointless all at once. How is Avid supposed to respond to dozens of completely different requests? Answer - get a process of genuine dialogue and consultation going.

My efx return tracks can be locked to micro or mini and remain that way unless I need to write automation on them.

Yes it could be useful, but then if you want to change the size of locked tracks you would have to unlock them (like expanding an automation lane on an fx return), so in the end I'm not sure...
