M-Powered max analogue I/O? More than LE?
OK so I'm getting mixed information from researching this..
If I get an M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge and enough ADAT converters (four x 8 channel) can I record and mix 32 simultaneous analogue channels? I've heard talk that the M-Powered software limits the I/O to 18 which makes it the same as LE? I might still consider M-Powered if I can use this unit to at least have 16channels of up to 96k via SMUX on the ADATs, does the SPDIF I/O go up to 96k on this unit too? Hopefully I can get a definitive answer here, thanks. |

18 total, no SMUX

Re: M-Powered max analogue I/O? More than LE?
This Gearslutz post mentions sMUX IS possible.
Actually it says so on the product page "It also supports 16-channel Lightpipe operation at 88.2 and 96kHz sample rates via the S/MUX protocol." No? Anyone know whether SPDIF can be 96k if my converter (Apogee PSX100) can handle it? |

* Pro Tools M-Powered currently supports a maximum of 18 simultaneous inputs and outputs." SO I guess I'm just interested if anyone knows if you can run the SPDIF at up to 96k? Thanks |

I was trying to be direct and to-the-point. Perhaps I should elaborate.
Pro Tools LE/M-Powered: 18 I/O, No SMUX. Whether the hardware can do it or not, it's not possible in Pro Tools.

Re: M-Powered max analogue I/O? More than LE?
SMUX working here.
Reading this thead, wondered if I was missing something. At this moment a test is running, 16 inputs, 96k, 24 bits, and all 16 inputs are hot and recording. 16 mono tracks to stereo out, 1 aux not active, no plugs. MBP 2.4, 4G, MPow. 7.4.2cs2, ProFire 2626 with my RME octamic ( SMUX to 2626 ). It's running now for almost 25 min. Allthough the first test broke of after 6 min (6101), second after 14 min (6101). Still hoping digi will do something about that. But 16 inputs at 96-24 are working here. ( now for 30 min ). Ben. |
