Default Question About Deleting Pro Tools Preferences and Error-6086

Hi,

I've been going crazy for some time now with a PT Error -6086 message
"The operating System Held Off Interrupts For To Long,If This Occurs
Frequently,Try Increasing The "H/W Buffer Size" In The Playback Engine Panel(-6086)"

Here's what I'm working with:
PTLE ver. 7.1cs10
002R
Mac G5 Dual 2.5ghz
Memory 2.5gb
Tiger 10.4.8
Glyph GT050 Hard Drive 250gb (Journaled)Hard Drive is not partitioned

I've tried trashing the Digi Database Folders, as suggested in the Troubleshooting tips,
with no change. So,now I'd like to try deleting Pro Tools Preferences.
I know PT's rebuilds itself after trashing the Database folders.

Does Pro Tool's also rebuild itself after deleting the PT's Preferences?
I definatley don't want to screw anything up...........

Any info would be appreciated.....
Thank You Very Much
Tom

yeah, delete the 3, empty trash, and restart. They'll be there after you launch Pro Tools again.

Hi,
I'm still going crazy with this Error -6086.

The Troubleshooting shows 4 to delete.
1)com.digidesign.protoolsLE.plist
2)DAE Prefs' FOLDER
3)DigiSetup.OSX'
and 4)ProTools preferences'
Now there are two ProTools preferences, ProtoolsV7.0 and ProtoolsV7.1
Do I delete both of them?

Also, I deleted the Digidesign Databases folders and the "Volumes Folder"
in MacHD.Library>Application Support>Digidesign>Databases
After deleting and restarting the computer I see the Volumes Folder is no
longer there. The Folder did have a lot in it.

Is the Volumes folder suppose to be rebuilt like the Databases?

Thanks
Tom

Yes and yes.

You might try switching the firewire port that the 002R is connected to - if it's to the front port, try the rear one and vice versa.

I tried switching the firewire ports.I had them both the 002R and Hard Drive
seperately in the back of the G5, now I ran them 002R>GTo50Hard Drives>G5.

Also ,After deleting the Volumes Folder , The folder is no longer there.
The Database folders are rebuilt, but not the Volumes.

Is This a Problem ? When will the Volumes Folder Rebuild itself like the databases?

Thank You

It should typically rebuild after you relaunch Pro Tools. If it's not there and you're not having problems, I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I deleted the Pro Tools Preferences, Deleted Databases ,Deleted Volumes Folders
and I'm still getting the Error -6086 when recording and during playback.
I never had this problem with Version 6.9 ,just when I went to 7.0 -7.1.
I've been dealing with it but now ,It's getting very embarassing when clients are in the middle of recording a track and Pro tools just stops.
Is there something else I could try to help solve this Error-6086 problem?

The "Volumes" folder never did rebuild itself after relaunching Pro Tools.

What would cause it not to rebuild? Could this be a problem?

I'd appreciate the help!
Thank you

Have you tried all the other steps in the General Troubleshooting thread?

If not, start there - especially the one about testing in a new administrator account.
