Default Re: HD IO interface at end of chain - ok to leave powered off sometimes?

I like to leave my Sync I/O powered off (when I'm not using it, obviously!), and I've noticed that this affects which other devices in the chain can be the Loop Sync master. I haven't done any scientific investigation to figure out this out further.

so as long as i'm not using Loop Sync whatsoever....

and if i use a word clock distribution amp (in a *star* config) then....

would it be OK to leave TWO HD Io 8x8x8 interfaces off? on HDX card 2, port 2? (the last port on the 2 HDX cards)

so they just wouldnt show up in the IO setup window.

the reason is to kill the fan noise. My control room is dead silent. i hear the fans.

Im not going to be 100% accurate on the details of this but this is why.
the reason it probably does work better is temperature !
The clock section is ofter actually heated to maintain constant tempature for best performance. AVIDS HD stuff I don't know but when its warmed up and it is most defiantly a lot more stable or accurate. A lot of big studio,s do things like this but Id be easily convinced its overkill for a modest studio.
But it would be consistent with no warm up period .

Converters use different forms of crystal or quarts cut pieces for the clocking.
Antelope uses Swiss-made Rubidium core with accuracy of 0.03 ppb (parts per BILLION) Ultra-precise Atomic oscillator with stability of 1 second in 1,000 years . This means, in a 1000 years straight use it will be out only 1 second from the first day !

Well at least thats the sales pitch answer
