ProTools can't detect Tascam 3200

Hi all, I have Protools 9, Mac OS 10.6.8, connected to Tascam 3200 through firewire 400. However, every time I start up ProTools, the firewire card of Tascam 3200 can't be detected. The default interface option of ProTools 'playback engine' is 'Built-in digital output'. I have to select Tascam 3200 manually. What's going on?

Doubt this is a pro tools issue! so you can manually select the tascam as the audio engine but it wont stick when you naxt boot PT?

Have you got the latest Tascam driver?

Are you booting your Mac in 32 or 64 bit kernel? tascam haven't written drivers for Mac in 64 bit

When are you turning on the DM?
Before boot or after boot?
Have you selected the DM as your default OS X audio device?
Those would be the first things is check.

Every time I connect an external firewire HD, Protools quits and can't detect TASCAM

Sounds like a FireWire bus issue/conflict.

Have you got the latest FireWire driver for mkII?

I would also try a different FireWire port if you have one available.
I came from a PC using Pro Tools and with my PC if I plugged anything into the FireWire ports while the DM was running the DM connection became very unstable.

When I made the move to a Mac I kept some of that paranoia so I never tried using a FireWire device while the DM is running.
Have you also tried posting on the tascamforums.com?
