Here is How to setup DM-3200 with ProTools 9 - the old Tascam pdf doesn't work

I am running a DM-3200 into ProTools 9.

The .pdf from the Tascam site didn't work at all, but I got it working 100% and I wanted to share.

It is very simple, but I spent a long time figuring it out due to the mix/match of devices you need to do. Had I not had the DM-3200 working with DP I would have never figured it out.


Yes - this also enables Transport Control

1- In Audio MIDI Setup create:

- Mackie Control (drag to DM-3200 5 Send/Receive ports)

- Mackie Control (drag to DM-3200 6 Send/Receive ports)


2- On DM-3200 go to Machine Control List :

Add 'HUI Emulate'

MAKE SURE TRA BOX IS CHECKED

3- In ProTools go to SETUP/PERIPHRIALS:

TYPE: HUI

RECEIVE FROM: MACKIE CONTROL

SEND TO: MACKIE CONTROL

# CHANNELS: 8

TYPE: HUI

RECEIVE FROM: MACKIE EXP

SEND TO: MACKIE EXP

# CHANNELS: 8

Setup/Hardware - get the IF/DW mkii showing up here - not PT Aggregate Device

Setup/Playback Engine - select IF/DW mkii

I'm using a 64 Buffer size (Mac Pro with 9 GB RAM)

Under Input/Output add what you need.

To test I suggest using one input (which will be Buss 1 on the DM-3200) and a Stereo Output (which for most will be channels 17/18 on the DM-3200).

Use your DM-3200 meter bridge (screen on the display or real bridge if you have it) to make sure things are coming/going where they should.
