NForce2 chip, will it work?

I looked through the 'best desktop systems...' topic for these answers; 300 pages is a lot.

The ptle manual recomends that you use a VIA chipset for best performance. VIA chipsets are not known for their longevity or stability these days, I prefer nVidia chipsets in my builds. This leaves me in a position of dissidence

Will PT give me problems using an nVidia chipset?

Also, I'm using an MBox. I know that the nVidia chipsets don't put out as much power to their USB ports as VIA, will I need a powered USB hub?

Yes. In fact its on their approved list. I have an asus a7n8x-e deluxe and it works fine.

Mine works perfect. AMD XP 3000+ 333fsb, 1GB ram and I get 32 audio + 15 auxes @ 512 latency on the DaveC.

yup! mines doing quite well. Abit nf7-s v2.0 with amd xp 2500 overclocked to 2700mhz 32tracks 36aux

I used to have a A7N8X / Athlon XP 2700 combo that worked great with my 002. One of my best friends now has it, and it rocks with his 001. The main comment I would make is to watch out for Matrox video cards... my old G550 was incompatable with the nForce2, but the ATI Radeon series cards work well with that chipset.

NForce2 is workin on 002 (goin 1-1/2 years now), dont have a MBox so cant comment on the compat.

A7N8X rev 2.0, 512 Corsair XMS Low latency ram, Promise Ultra133 with 2 seperate HD's (system/audio).

The USB 2.0 (1.1 compat) ports are plenty fast for an external HD, dont see why a MBox wouldn't run good also. but...If I was to build a system "today" would be Athlon 64 instead.
