Default Pro Tools at 88.2 -or- Apogee Converter at 48 ????

I just spent $1k on an Apogee Mini-Me Analog-to-Digital Converter for my Digi 002. The problem is that it's only supported in Pro Tools LE at a sample rate of 48. I wanted to use a sample rate of 88.2.

Question: What's better? Pro Tools without a converter at 88.2? Or ProTools with an Apogee Converter at 48?

Should I just the return the converter & keep the $1k?

Thanks!!

Id stick with the Apogee. your gunna loose alot of cpu power at 96K and probably wont hear a difference especially with the apogee.

Hey pribb1 ,

I was under the impression that the Mini-Me converts to 88.2/96 Khz and has a SPDIF output.
Also, your 002 should be able to receive clock and digital audio into it's SPDIF coax input.
Am I missing something ??

cheers,

I just got a MiniMe yesterday, and it definitely works (very well!) at 96Khz.

The Apogee definately sounds better, even at 44.1
I've been using Apogee rosetta for a while now, and when I upgraded to 002r, I didnt hear a difference going to 96k, but I do hear a difference with the digi converters going from 44.1 to 88.2. So now I use 44.1 with the Apogee all the time.
