Default accidently deleted EVERYTHING

working on a project

needed room on my external, so i selected all unused regions and cleared... well it deleted all my audio regions in my other sessions in the same root folder.

is there any way to recover all those files? i haven't closed pro tools yet if that matters. and my external hard drive still has the same amount of space on it, so i'm assuming the files are actually still on the hard drive.

i need help, if i can't them back... i'll have to re record 4 days worth of tracking

There are many undelete utilities you can try. Of course the better solution is simply to restore from the backups you've been making (now is a good time to remind yourself the importance of making backups).

Oh no not another one!!!!

Not sure why it would delete all your audio regions in my other sessions in the same root folder.

If you hit CLEAR and not DELETE, your files may well be sitting in the audio files folder, but might be invisible. If you go to the session and click on Import>Audio Files and look at the session audio files folder, it all MIGHT be there(select it all and import back into the session). This is a big MAYBE and I will cross my fingers for ya

Noooooooooooooooooooooo.............
Come on mannnnn! Where's your backup. I'm king of oops but really learned my lesson several months ago. I did have back up, but it was from five years back. Thank god for my brain that's still functioning. Never again. If I didn't have that back up that would have been it. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems I spend more time looking at the screen instead of my fretboard.

So true Tom, I have 3 redundant backups of every drive. The investment is mandatory!!!!!! Maybe not three like me, but one without question, the most Important part of your studio!!!!

While it's just my opinion, I frown upon using Time Machine. It runs whenever it feels like and it only backs up the boot drive. Serious Pro Tools sessions have no business being on the boot drive.

TM is not designed for the attention to detail needed to be meticulous at backing up sessions and keeping them organized. Tri-Backup or any of the other Mac backup utilities is far more appropriate.

What's the old saying:

If you don't have 3 copies of your data, you don't have your data
