Anyone gotten PTLE 6 working with Midi yet?

I'm not the best midi guy, but I have tried everything and can't get my Alesis QS-8 to be seen by the Midi Devices under Audio MIDI Setup. Does anyone have any advice?

When I'm rescanning MIDI, the QS-8 is not recognized, so nothing happens. I have the out of the QS-8 into the ins on the Digi 001 and vice versa. I tried just adding a device, but it didn't work...no midi recognition.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Well i am recording and editing midi....so yes. But my Roland XP-80 cannot have the patches changed from Pro Tools patch screen like I used to. i have to used the selector wheel on my Roland. i have posted several times, emailed Tech Service, even tried to talk to someone who may have wrote the patch file.....but I have yet to get an answer to my questions.

For now, I am learning other things, so I sit patiently and wait.

Twinstream, are you using a midi interface or going straight to your keyboard? I'm trying to connect the Alesis QS-8 directly into the Digi001 and haven't gotten it to work yet. I'm wondering if it works better with a midi interface.

Yes, did not change a thing from my configuration with 5.1, the midi cables go directly to and from digi to XP-80. I have not yet attempted to add my Pod in.....as that was a convience I needed for Logic 4.7 and soundiver.

i would like to know more about the expert setting in Audio Midi Setup but there is nothing to be found anywhere. I think that midi got left on the back burner ....

Really was wanting to come back to Pro Tools for the midi improvement....but now....may have to look again at Logic.

I do not see your setup listed in the list. You might try leaving the names all blank and then go in and try the General Midi file. That one worked for me as far as changing just the first patchs 0-32 (but then I am a tinker head).

Good luck, and if anyone has connected directly with digi 001 and there keyboard.....and has selected on screen patchs....let us know there is hope!

I just got my midi set up in PT6 and i gotta say it's a little "buggy" IMO.I've got a slight amount of latency happening that is totally freaking me out because in 5 it works like a champ!..i've been going through all of my settings and i can't find a solution to the delay i'm hearing.Don't get me wrong i can work with it but it's just enough to give grief,whereas PT5 was once set up the SAME way is perfect to work in.Also seems like the control tools are a little sloppy too(slow and inaccurate).Hope fully it's just a setting i've missed,but i went through them 3x's and compared them to my settings in 5 [img]images/icons/confused.gif[/img] .....anyway just chiming in with my $.02

I'm having the same problem! Using a midiman usb 2x2, PT6. The timeline on the edit window stalls and stutters when you move the mouse around in sessions with midi tracks. There's a lag with playback starting too. What's the deal??!
