Default MIDI Control Surface compatibility

Does anyone have a Line 6 KB37 or other "generic" USB MIDI Controller working as a Control Surface in PT LE8? If so, how did you manage to set it up?

I am trying to use my Line 6 KB37 as a basic MIDI controller for a few simple tasks in PT LE 8. With KB37 connected, with no configuration at all it can already be used by PT to record MIDI Note data into a MIDI track. But I would also like to assign KB37's transport buttons and maybe a few knobs to control things such as PT transport buttons, a few plug-in parameters, etc. Seems like I need to set up KB37 as a "Control Surface" to do this. KB37 does come with a MIDI editor, so I can assign the type of MIDI messages sent from each button knob (MIDI CC, Program Change or MMC and their values).

I tried the steps in this support article, but no luck:

Basically, it sounds like KB37 (or any device that is not one of the devices found in the PT Setup > Peripherals menu as a supported Controller) can use the JL Cooper CS-10 Personality, and then configure the device to emulate a CS10. But when I select the JL Cooper CS10 Personality in the Peripherals menu, I have no option to then choose a MIDI In or Out port. Strangely, if I choose one of the other Personalities it DOES allow me to choose the KB37 USB MIDI In & Out ports for it, but of course it won't work since KB37 will not emulate one of the supported controllers
Thanks!

Are you using Pro Tools 8? If so, they killed this functionality. Unless you have a JS Cooper cs-10, this preset will do nothing now.
