Structure patch file = unix executable
Hi there, I noticed that the Mac finder displays my structure patch files as Unix executable files, since I updated PT8.0 to 8.01. Also the file icon has changed from the bright yellow Structure icon to a generic grey unix icon. With PT 8.0, every Structure patch file looked fine in the Mac Finder, but they all changed after the PT 8.01 update. The problem remains in 8.03. The problem occurs with both PTLE and PTHD systems. This doesn't prevent the files from loading correctly in the Structure browser, where those same (supposed unix executable) Structure patches do retain their yellow Structure icon. Any thoughts on this?

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
If you are running OS X 10.5.x and Pro Tools 8.0.3 try reinstalling Structure and run the Structure 1.0.2 Updater.

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
Thanks for your reply! The problem appears to be related to the Structure Free edition which is incorporated in the PT8 installer. With Structure (complete edition with its own installer) I don't have the same file problem.

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
There is not much you can do with Structure Free, no pun intended, your best option would be to submit a bug report.

Quote:
Open it in Preview select it and then use CMD 'C' to copy it. Then CMD 'I" on the patch, select the tiny icon at the top of the file info and use CMD 'V' to paste it. You can select all of the patches and do it on one go if it doesn't fix it after one. It's a Mac thing, I wrote a post about it a long time ago, but I can't even find it on the blog!

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
Thank you for your replies. I did know how to change a file's icon, but changing the icon doesn't change the kind of file. The Mac keeps displaying the Structure patch files as Unix executable files where normally, this kind of file should be displayed as a "Structure Patch" in the Finder. Indeed, it is possibly a Mac/Unix thing.

Have you run Disk Utility on this drive?

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
I had this problem, has to do with cs updates killing the installed Structure resources.
You need to reinstall Structure to get it all looking proper. http://duc.digidesign.com/showpost.p...6&postcount=12 |

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
This is not really an issue - most systems I've seen have that same symbol for Structure patches.
If you really want to change it, open one of the ones with the correct icon using Get Info and see what application it's set to open with. Then go to one with the Unix icon, Get Info on that and change the 'open with' to the same application, then check the box to 'change all'. This should change the icon for all the files. |

Re: Structure patch file = unix executable
What app usually opens Stucture files on a Mac? I've got the same switcheroo. None of them display properly.
