Re: Best Desktops for PTLE
I'm about to order the Allenstein machine, but wanted to make sure about a few things.
Should the WD drives be IDE or SATA? SATA are better right? The AMD chip should be the one with 1mb Level 2 Cache I'm assuming? Is the video card I picked below okay? Can anyone recommend a good full-sized tower because I think I'll have a few HDs that will need to fit and I don't know if I can fit them in this one that Allen recommends. Aspire X-Dreamer II(Black) ATX Mid-Tower Case with 350W Power Supply, With Window, Model "ATXB4KLW-BK/350" Item# N82E16811144026 Western Digital Special Edition 80GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD800JB, OEM Drive Only Item# N82E16822144122 Western Digital 160GB 7200RPM IDE Hard Drive, Model WD1600JB, OEM Drive Only Item# N82E16822144203 Kingston 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 - Retail Item# N82E16820141424 ASUS "K8V SE Deluxe" K8T800 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 754 CPU -RETAIL Item# N82E16813131490 AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 1MB L2 Cache, 64-bit Processor - Retail Item# N82E16819103426 Transcend ATI RADEON 9200 Video Card, 64MB DDR, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "TS64MVDR92" -RETAIL Item# N82E16814156012 |

Re: Best Desktops for PTLE
Hey everyone... I'm currently using MBOX PT 6.4 and I'm going to buy a new computer... I was looking for prices and found the following:
(Processors only) AMD 64 + 3000 = 174.00 Pentium 4 3.0ghz = 192.00 AMD Athlon XP 3000 = 118.00 with the one I choose I will add 1024MB Ram and a 80GB hard drive. 1. Is there a BIG diference between AMD 64 3000 and 3400?? 2. What's my best choice here? 3. Anybody using AMD 64 yet? how does it work with PT? Thanks, Antonio |

There are a few people using dual systems, but they aren't getting as good of results as a single AMD 64 3400 Clawhammer processor at this time. Allen |
