Default Legacy Peripheral with PT7?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience using Pro Tools 7 with a Legacy Peripheral.

Our studio is planning to upgrade to Tiger/PT7 in the new year.

At the same time, we're also looking for a cost-effective way to add some more inputs to our setup - and considering a used 888/24 to accomplish this. Basically, we need the extra ins to monitor and print outboard synths directly into ProTools. I understand that, as a legacy peripheral, the 888/24 is supported for PT7, and would be significantly cheaper than shelling out for another 192 or a 96i I/O. The vast majority of our work is done at 44.1k or 48k. All the I/O on our existing 192 is in use.

Has anyone had any experience (success, failure, meltdown?) with a similar configuration?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Cheers,
JRC

Using a 1622, no real problems. There's one minor bug where the 1622 isn't always "awake" after ProTools opens. But wakes up once you go into Hardware setup, forcing the 192 relays to click on again.

I have a 192 and a 96 with a 1622 connected to each for synths.

No issues.
