Default AMD mobo/cpu question: what\'s your opinion?

I was considering the xp2200 processor a while back, when the money fell through...funny how that happens. Anyway, I notice now that I can get an xp2600 at 333 for about $141, which is less than what the 2200 was way back when. So now I'm wondering how the 2600 is performing. Anyone here using it? With which mobo? I'm thinking about the a7v333x/l, which is also a lot less than what it was. The 2800 is still too much money for me right now, so unless it makes a huge difference, I probably wouldn't be willing to save my money fo the 2800.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

paul

I just got and xp2400 and I LOVE it in conjunction with the a7v333! I was going to buy the xp2800 as is recommended in the "best system" thread, but I started looking at it closely....
The XP2800 runs at something like 2.19 ghz, and the XP2400 runs at about 2ghz...but the difference in price was over $100, so I went with the 2400... i didsnt think i would see a noticable difference in the speed at that level.
I am not over-clocking anything at this point for the record.

I also use the AMD XP2400 with the ASUS a7v333 and it works great. I did get a bad mobo which had a common "Failed CPU Test" error on it, sent it back and the new one worked great. I just finished my machine last month. Buy all your parts online, Pricewatch.com or pricegrabber.com to find the best prices. I bought all my stuff from Newegg and Googlegear, both equally good vendors.
