Default Bounce to Disk Question

I am running PTLE 6.9 and am trying to bounce to disk. My session is 24 bit and I want to bounce to 16 bit so I can burn it to a CD. I have a dither plugin on the master fader. Everything seems to work okay but then when I go to play the file in iTunes or Windows Media Player, it won't play. I opened it up in Adobe Audition just to see what happened and I could see the waves but it once again would not play. I checked the format and I think it said 32-bit floating. I also tried bouncing to disk at other bit depths like 8 and 24. I tried both convert during and convert after bounce. The results were the same. The thing is, I have bounced to disk succesfully before so I don't know what I am doing differently. Any suggestions?

Is your dither plugin in the last insert slot(it should be)? Did you double-check to make sure the dither plug is set to 16 bit? My preference is to bounce at 24 bit and dither as part of my CD prep(I never use a master fader myself). This way, I have a 24 bit bounce for sending out for real mastering. I import the 24 bit file into my PT mastering session or WaveLab. This is where I trim the head/tail and add a fadeout if needed. I put Waves L2 with light gain reduction and select 16 bit in the dither section. With WaveLab, I hit "render" and save the file in a folder of CD-ready wave files. With PT I bouce to 16 bit, 44.1K stereo interleaved. That file is ready to burn onto an audio CD and both methods have worked every time. With protools, I select "convert after bounce".

I believe the stereo interleaved is the problem here. You need to choose stereo interleaved.
