I was a D1600 owner and I have to testify that it really is a great sounding machine...but I sold it and got an 001 last year. Both are great machines, but I would give my money to 001 anytime due to its flexibility and availablity of plugins, Though the D1600 sounds great, th user is still preety much limited in editing and mixing.

Now I sold my 001 for an 002...except for stabilty glitches, the 002 is hands down the better sounding toy. go get yours.

I found a big difference in the sound of the 002 over the 001.

As far as the bounce thing goes I haven't had that problem nor do I remember others mentioning it so you might need to look into how your doing that.

The Korg 1600 is cool but I dumped it within a few days. I like the sound of the Roland stuff - heck - I have a Zoom 4 track palmtop that sounds pretty good.

The 002 is better but maybe you like workin the machines - maybe they just work for you.

The 002 sounds great even using it's on board a/d d/a convertors. It's even better with Focusrite ISA 428 pres and the Focusrite convertors going into the 002. VERY clean with superb definition.

If you get a Digi 002 you can get a discount by sending in your 001. Audiomidi has good pricing on Digi hardware and offers the official Digi trade in. The amount you get for the 001 is based on Digi's standard trade in discount. The reseller has to follow this and cannot give you any less. You may want to look into it.
