Presonus Digimax
Is anyone using this unit with the 001. I need 16 tracks at 24bit and this seems like a great solution.
I've searched for this on the DUC and just return discusion but no actual first hand experiance. This should make my live recording a breeze. Thanks Dylan

Re: Presonus Digimax
Audio,
I don't personally use the Digimax (hell, I don't even have the Digi001 yet). But I am researching the sh*t out of the sysytem before I buy. AND I do work at a dealer that sells PreSonus. Their stuff is really good. I researched that unit for the same reasons as you. It looks very promising Matt

Re: Presonus Digimax
Thanks Matt. Were in the same boat. I hope to have my system up and running by Oct. Waitng on this G4 MP debate to settle before I purchase. I want to get a 500MHz machine either way. I'm still researching hard drives to.
Thanks Dylan

Re: Presonus Digimax
Audio,
Very cool. I'm really dead in the water here on buying ANYTHING! The last thing I want to do is invest a couple grand and find out it's not gonna work! I don't even want to get the 001 till I hear all the facts. In the meantime, I could get my hands on an old G4 that I know would work right now. But if I could get faster processing........ What have you come up with so far for a system? What do you plan to do with it? My wish list includes: 1.Digi 001 (of course) 2.G4 450 Mhz (all I really can afford) 3.all the nec. ram needed (192 recomended) 4.Mackie HUI (I love Mackie stuff, and I love faders I can touch) 5.Tascam CD-R Pro bundle 6.as far as hard drives... I know very little about what I need or should get. 7.oh, and of course, the Digimax to do live recordings. (drum stuff, mostly,I think ) Keep in touch and let me know if you come across something I missed or is worth checking out. Matt

Re: Presonus Digimax
I'm also checking out the the Digimax - to take advantage of the Optical inputs which I haven't even used yet, since I've been recording mostly acoustic/analog sources. If anyone has used the M20 or M80 & would like to comment on them it would be appreciated. I guess they only have digital outputs & not analog. Yes?
thanks crow

Re: Presonus Digimax
Alright Matt, here's what I've found so far. This is my purchasing list in order of priority.
Apple Power Mac G4 500MHz (or dual) with 256MB of RAM, 40GB ATA Hard disk, and a DVD RAM Drive for backing up and archiving sessions. Sony Trinitron 18 inch monitor. Digi 001 box and PTLE software. Tascam Cd-R Bundle Tannoy Reveal Active monitors. AKG 3000c (at least one, but I'd like two later on) Two Shure SM81's Waves Plugin Bundle Maxtor 40G Hard drive with SCSI card (as of right now) Presonus Digimax What I already have. An old school Mackie CR1604 with 10ch add on unit. (gotta love that old board) A mess of assorted studio mics. (57's, BG4.1's, and other stuff) 100' 12 Channel Snake 50' 9 Channel Snake Have been using Cakewalk Pro audio 9 with my roomates PC, but after working with Protools TDM in the studio for a year. I was not impressed. Right now I'm focusing on Live recording. I really want to take advantage of the ability to record 16 tracks at 24bit simultaniously. I want to record everything and anything. From the local High Schools Concert Band and Choir, to my own Rock band. ( www.uncommon-sense.com ) I want to take this time while i'm in school (SAE Nashville) to learn to record every kind of instrument I possibly can. I think the 001 (along with the Presonus Digimax) has the functionality to do all these things and more. What are you going to use your system for? Thanks, Dylan [This message has been edited by audioisgood (edited August 03, 2000).]

Re: Presonus Digimax
Hey Audio,
It was scary reading your post; "I want the same thing!" I wanna record, for the most part, me playing all the instruments, track at a time. Hopefully covering everything from New Age acoustic stuff to TOOL> Pretty weird huh? But also the ocassional buddies' band, hence the Digimax for drum recording. Be carefull on the Dual processor thing, their still trying to get them to work with 001. I'll prob get a G4 450. Can't afford the 500. cus I wanna get the HUI and all the extra goodies too( Neumann mic, etc. ) Right now I own: Mackie 1202VLZ Akai DPS12 w/jazz (great HD recorder but not cutting it anymore) C1000S 57 & 58 mics Digitech S100 (great cheat reverb unit) Yamaha W5 keybrd w/ sequencer(currently stuck on stage @ the club I play at) ahhhh....I love talking gear. All I need to do know is act like I know something about Mac's LOL Thanks for the info and knowledge Matt
