Presonus DigiMax FS to 003-proper cable

I am finally getting round to hooking up m Presonus DigiMax FS to my 003 in order to get more inputs. the fine folks (?) at guitar Center sent me home with a TOSLINK cable which would not fit either unit. I took it back (25 minute drive) only to find that the TOSLINK is the only optical cable they carry. They advised me to go to Best Buy and get a regular audio optical cable. It seemed to fit the 003, but would not even begin to fit the DigiMax. Could someone direct me to the proper cable. Would it just be a plain ADAT light pipe cable? Where is the best place to order one from? thanks, GM

Toslink is lightpipe is ADAT (well, technically ADAT is a digital audio format carried over optical cables that use toslink connectors)..

What exactly do you mean it won't fit?

You pulled out the plugs, right? Sometimes there is a little cover that closes itself, sometimes they are plugged up. The picture on the Presonus website looks like they are plugged...

YUP! I pulled the plugs from the Digimax. The 003 just has a flexible plastic cover that recedes when you plug the cable in. Hmmmm! I guess I will go back to GC and check out the TOSLINK again. thanks, guys! GM

OK! I think I just figured it out! This should give you guys a grin. i have never jacked with an optical cable before but noticed that the large plastic end on the end of the cable (ok, let`s call it a cable condom) is too large to fit in the opening. Well, I gave it a gentle tug and it slipped off and the cable fits fine.....ok go ahead and laugh..... its ok. I am a tech-tard in the first degree. thanks for the input guys. go easy on me! GM

Wow. At first I was laughing (with you...not at you) then I thought to my self, "The guy at Guitar Center couldn't help you figure this out?" I mean, it is an honest thing to not kow if you never worked with optical audio devices, but the guy at Guitar Center has no excuse. I know we bash Guitar Center a lot on this forum (mostly they deserve it) but this time it is a new "low," even for them. Like I said...Wow.
