Default plugin selection crashing PT11.0.2

Been running into a consistent problem. Say I have a plugin on an insert in an audio track and I have the gui open. If I want to change the plugin to another one via the selector in the plugin's gui PT consistently crashes. Yet no problem if I change the plugin from the track insert bin. Happens with any plugin - Avid or third party. Amount of tracks, old or new session - makes no difference.

Not a showstopper but annoying and makes me thankful that my left hand is permanently crooked into the cmd-s position

Anybody else run into this?

Does it happen with ONLY the Avid plugins in the plugins folder?

Are you saying I should remove non-Avid plugins from the folder? Haven't tried that. And even if it doesn't happen with third party plugs removed that's not a solution. All my plugins are up to date. I guess the only solution would be to not use that selector in the plugin gui? Sort of the old joke:
patient: doctor - it hurts when I do this
doctor: well don't do that

Update:
Found the problem - Arturia CS80V2 (10 voice) is the culprit. Removed everything but stock Avid plugs then added things back in one developer at a time, starting with the AIR plugs, and so on. There are two versions of the CS80 plugin - the one causing me problems and what I guess would be called the regular CS80 from Arturia. Don't know exactly what the difference is between the two although I do remember now that this 10 voice version in vst form gave me headaches on my old Win XP/Sonar 8.3.1 system so it looks like the same old hassles are still in the aax version of this plugin.

There you go!! Isolate!! Isolate!! Isolate!!

I wasn't suggesting it as a solution, but part of the diagnostics.

Turns out the diagnostics became the solution
I still think it's weird how that you can have a plugin in the folder, not use it in a session, but it still causes a problem in PT. I know it happens but still strange

PT loads them into the plugin database at launch. That's why the first launch after an update is longer.

I guess the hooks are set at that point?? Who knows!

I have had some stability problems with the Arturia plugins as well, didn't realise they could crash sessions when not actually instanciated though! Will have to try removing some and seeing if that helps stability. I am finding generally with Audio based plugins PT11 is pretty stable, but on bigger sessions with some VI's I am running into random crashes.

Does anyone know how to access the crash logs in PT11? They used to come up in PT10 but in PT11 it just comes up with the 'Send to Avid" screen.
