No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
I don't see any devices listed in the "MIDI Input Enable".
I've tried reinstalling the drivers via DigiDrivers.exe. I've ensured that MMERefresh is running at startup. I've tried refreshing the preferences folder. I've also tried updated Pro Tools. First I tried 8.0.3 (but that didn't fix the issue) so I continued to 8.0.3cs2 (and that didn't fix anything either). I don't want to re-install if it can be avoided. Please let me know if you've had this problem and I'll be happy to hear any possible solutions. Sandra Report follows: HTML Code:

Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
I'm not sure how the DigiDrivers.exe reinstalls the drivers, but you could try to repair the installation through Programs and Features in the Control Panel - or whatever it's called in Vista. If still a no-go, I'd do a full uninstall and reinstall - it'll probably be faster in the long run than a lot of troubleshooting that might not even fix it.

Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
I have the same problem with my 002Rack and haven't been able to use midi since PT6.9. I had a post awhile back and posted my Sandra report and never received any additional suggestions. I thought maybe it was my firewire card so I purchased one of the suggested models (Siig) but still can't get midi ports to showup in Protools. I installed Protools on my wife's Macbook Pro (intel core duo 2.4 ghz) and my midi ports for the Digi002 were there without any issues. I have MMERefresh running and have gone through all the troubleshooting that I can but haven't been able to solve anything.

Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
Have you gone to Setup>midi>midi studio and added/create devices there? I have had no major midi issues going all the way back to 6.4

Quote:
I've tried this with the MIDI port on the 003 and also with USB MIDI devices. Nothing seems to have worked so far. The most troubling issue is that MIDI used to work GREAT on this exact system. The only things that have changed in the system (since MIDI was working) are Pro Tools updates and Windows updates. |

Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
I had similar problem when I upgraded to version 8 - and was actually why I joined the duc to post for help. I tried everything
My solution was doing a 'repair' while running setup with Windows in stripped down minimum config (drivers, services, startup, UAC). I think this was on v8.01. Running setup/repair not in minimum mode was not allowing something to happen to register the MIDI components in windows I believe... Since then I've done many upgrades/downgrades/uninstalls/reinstalls and MIDI continues to work. I use Acronis now to avoid experiences like my old MIDI problem. Mike.

Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
I am having a similar problem. There are no devices listed in the MIDI Input Enable.
I have verified that MMERefresh.exe is running. Under Device Manager the Digidesign 003 Rack appears under Sound, video and game controllers but there is no listing for any MIDI device. I have set up the minimum Windows configuration, and tried re-installing PT 8 with the "repair" option with no change. My keyboard will cause the MIDI In light to flash on the front panel so I know MIDI data is passing into the interface. 3-5-2011: Here is an update--- after much research and testing cycles I have determined that it can be solved! Thanks to all who have contributed to this issue, each bit helped me some. To fix the problem uninstall Pro Tools 8. I know it is a pain, but this seems to work reliably. Then configure Windows XP to "minimal settings" as shown below. then re-install PT. Digi 003 Midi port shows up then in the MIDI Input Enable. Last edited by thecount4; 03-05-2011 at 09:33 PM. Re: No MIDI Devices (003Rack + 8.0.3 or cs2)
This workaround applies to PT 8.0.3 Win XP SP3.
The web still works and the Midi device shows in the list as: Digidesign 003 port 1 Something in the following list makes the Digidesign 003 port 1 not show up in the Midi Device Enable list if it is turned on. I'm not sure the exact item that causes the conflict problem. In order to be certain, if you have the time, you could turn each one that is not started back on individually and check to see if the interface still shows up in the Midi Device Enable. The following shows what you can disable and still run the computer. Here are the details of the services setup: HTML Code:
