V volts * A amps = W watts or VA Volt Amps

W and VA are not exactly the same thing but should be close enough for you to do what you need to do
the difference is if you are measuring the voltage peek or RMS I believe

Thanks, I have a 650 watts No Break and need to know if it will be sufficient for protecting my system.

Just to confirm: There's gotta be somewhere info. about how many volts and amps each unit has then I multiply them and the result is close enough to how many watts the unit conusmes right? Sorry to describe this with apple and oranges jeje but I need to be sure.

basically

volts is what is coming out of the wall say 120V

so you need to find the Amp (A) listed on each unit
(Digi you really should make this information easer to get to)

so V*[A1+A2+A3...]

Also, keep in mind that those power ratings are the maximum that the unit will draw. Normal load might be a lot less in some cases. Still, it doesn't hurt to have excess capacity, especially when the batteries start to weaken with age in a year or two. 650 watts sounds kind of lean to me. I'm using an APC 1400 on my system.

OK, thanks. 192 I/O is 2A and we got 110 V so basically that is 220 watts or VA?, PRE is 0.5A so that's 55 watts or VA? I'm asking because the No Break is 1000 VA-650 watts so if we're talking VA's I'm OK but if that means watts I won't be able to protect everything.

watts = volts * amps so the 192 is 220 watts as I undeerstand it.
The dual G5 is 7.5 amps or 825 watts. It's a tank. I don't remember the rating of the control 24, but it's not that extreme.

Fortunately these things don't draw that kind of power. It's just a max rating.

I have an APC 1000 which is 670 watts and runs a Control 24, 192 and one Dual 2.0 G5. Going on two years now and never an overload beep. Also have had several power failures and it held up fine. Of course the more the better. Another APC 1000 runs the second G5 and all my other toys.

Hope that helps.
