Default Can't hear midi track when recording

I have midi/instrument track, i want to be able to hear the track when i am recording with guitar. Every time i enable low latency monitoring, the track goes dead. is there anything i can do? Or is this the way protools works?

Low Latency Monitoring disables any plug-ins while in record.

Is there a workaround for this? How can you hear your midi track so you can play with it? Do i have to dump it to an audio track first?

Work with your buffer set to 64 or 128.

Or...

You could BUS your MIDI tracks to audio tracks. Basically create a new audio track and set the input to a free bus (eg Bus 1 if mono or Bus 1-2 if it's a stereo track). On the midi track set the output to the same bus you chose before. Arm the audio track for recording and press record and play on the transport.

Pro Tools will then play your project and will record your MIDI track (with any effects) as an audio track. By the way, you can set up multiple tracks to record like this.

Hope this helps.
Paul
