PT9.0x HD Lion Won't Recognize My 192
Just in case anyone else has been down this road, or at the start of the road and want to know they're not alone … I'm upgrading two rigs to 10.7.3 and PT 9.06. On the first rig, after some messing with the Rosetta, all is fine. The second rig, the PCI-e rig, with the 192 io, the software install seems to be problematic (errors stop the install) and then it doesn't recogize the hardware.
The system hard drive is a block level clone of 10.6.8 with 9.03 upgraded to 10.7.3. If I boot with this previous (original) 10.6.8 drive, it recognizes the 192 hardware no problem. If I reinstall plain 9.0, I can see the hardware in the system preferences, but I can't load Pro Tools, as it doesn't work on Lion. Once I install any of the updaters the HW disappears and isn't seen by the system or Pro Tools. I've deleted everything that even hints at being a Pro Tools pref, but with no joy. So first off, to get a good install using the following ... Pro_Tools_90_Full_Installer_69565.dmg Pro_Tools_901_Updater_70446.dmg Pro_Tools_902_Updater_70918.dmg Pro_Tools_903_Updater_71531.dmg (I understand we can skip 9.04) Pro_Tools_905_Updater_72733.dmg Pro_Tools_906_Updater_74249.dmg Pro_Tools_Updater_v90_69517.dmg … normally I would install in the order listed above (why is "Pro_Tools_Updater_v90_69517.dmg" down the bottom, it's not even in numerical order with the others?) Can I jump straight from "Pro_Tools_90_Full_Installer_69565.dmg" to "Pro_Tools_906_Updater_74249.dmg", skipping everything in between? The reason that I would want to do that is because one or other of the installers craps out and I want to limit my chances of having a bad install. Steps: 1 Clean install Pro_Tools_90_Full_Installer_69565.dmg 2. Install Pro_Tools_Updater_v90_69517.dmg. Installer fails. Can't continue as the installer has erased the PT app. 3. Delete the PT folder and try Pro_Tools_90_Full_Installer_69565.dmg 4. Skip Pro_Tools_Updater_v90_69517.dmg 5. Skip all the others, as one of them will bug out. 6 Go straight to Pro_Tools_905_Updater_72733.dmg 7 Install Pro_Tools_906_Updater_74249.dmg 7. HW (192) not seen. Once I've done any combination of the above, I'm not seeing the 192. My next step is reinstalling the OS, but want to check that there isn't something obvious that I'm overlooking. I've done searches on this forum, and people appear to have had problems with the 9 installers but that still leaves a lot of room for error on my part.

Re: PT9.0x HD Lion Won't Recognize My 192
In Lion, trash all the usual. (Note the Option>Go To, to see your user library folder)
Start with the 9.0.5 full installer (HD will do it's own drivers). Update to the latest V9x. Recomende to do a fresh install of lion onto a clean drive. I've tried both lion only and lion over 10.6.8-1 The problem could be 10.7."3" When I did this Lion was 10.7.1 Bit the bullet and went to 10 but 9.0.6 was working with a 192 (8-8-8)

Re: PT9.0x HD Lion Won't Recognize My 192
An epic fail on my part that I didn't even see that there was a full 9.05 installer!! So that's downloading currently.
Pro_Tools_905_Full_Installer_72732.dmg Will ditch all the preferences (Note, I unhide the library folder with terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library") A huge thanks for the notes, I'll let you know how I get on with later today, but my gut tells me that a clean install of lion will be required.

Re: PT9.0x HD Lion Won't Recognize My 192
Installed a fresh OS (10.7.3).
Installed Pro_Tools_905_Full_Installer_72732.dmg. I could see the Digidesign HW ( HD ) PCI card in the system "sound" preferences pane, a good sign. Installed Pro_Tools_906_Updater_74249.dmg and the PCI card was gone from the system sound preferences pane. Put me right back to where I started. Reinstalled another fresh OS (10.7.3). Installed Pro_Tools_905_Full_Installer_72732.dmg. I can see the Digidesign HW ( HD ) PCI card in the system "sound" preferences panel, so that's where I've left it for now. |
