Default Can\'t Automate plug-ins

I am working on a Power Mac dual 2.3 G5 with OS 10.4.1 with Pro Tools LE 6.9.2. The other day I went to automate one of my Waves plug-ins and the list of automation choices was blank in the automation window. I then tried other Waves plug-ins and I could not automate them either. I checked my Channel Stip plug-ins as well as the digidesign plug-ins and I could automate those, just not the waves plug-ins. So I tried re-installing the Waves plug-ins, didn't work. I tried reinstalling Pro Tools, didn't work. I was running OS 10.4.6 at the time. I read on the forum here that others were unsure as to how well that latest upgrade worked with Pro Tools. So I downgraded to 10.4.1. This still did not help. Now just today, I went to automate one of my Channel Strip plug-ins and the window for that was blank giving me no options. The digidesign plug-ins still give automation options in the automation window. Has anyone had this problem and know what to do? Any suggestions? This lack of automation is making it quite difficult to mix.

I had this happen to me. So I found, thru an elimination process, five of my plugins which apparently was causing the problem: Autotune4, Finalplug5, Masterverb5, Multidynamics5, Trackplug5. This was on 10.3.4, PT 6.4.
HTH.

MTX - Let me know how this works out for you. I've been having the same problem intermittently (some projects they don't show up, others they do), but have had success with a re-install of the Waves plugs (4.0/ Gold). I also have BF plugs and a UAD card/ and am running the following set-up:

G5 2x2.0 (2nd Gen)
Digi 002R
OS 10.4.3
Pt 6.9.2
UAD-1 Card (1) v4.3software
Waves 4.0 Gold
BF Plugs
Latest Digi Plugs (including EQIII and DynIIIplugs)

How did you guys get on? This has just happened to me, and I'm mixing down an album to be finished this week. Answerbase was useless, it says 'this is a known problem, after downloading EQIII or DynIII, problem fixed in PT7', but I'm a 6.9er.

Did you manage to fix the problem?

Many thanks in advance.

I´m pretty shure this is a plugin compatability problem. As I said, after removing the wavearts plugins (demos) and upgrading Autotune, all is well. Of course there might be other PIs with this problem. I circled in on the offending PIs by first launcing without half of them in the PIs folder, then if automation worked, I launced with another bunch in the PIs folder and so on until I came to my result. Perhaps you should try it yourself. Good luck.
(Did you install any new PIs lately?)

Thanks for the suggestion Ben, sorry for not getting back, as had to finish the job in hand. I managed to get round it, by duplicating tracks, automating sends/mutes, etc.

The only new thing I've added this year, apart from EQIII, has been an upgrade to Native Instruments B4. However, I've started a new project this week, and the new project plugs, have all the automation parameters available. Even though this project doesn't need B4 I'm going to create a track, and see if that does anything.

FWIW - The only way I was able to fix this was to upgrade to 7.1cs9 - so far no problems.
