firewire hd setup utility

hi,

does anyone have a recommendation regarding hard disk utilities to format/setup firewire drives (actually ide hard disks in ide-firewire generic enclosures) to be used with logic in B&W G3's, G4's. i have been having random problems with Hard Disk Speed Tools, which is the format utility that they came with.
