Import Session Data: Automation does not merge?
Hi All,
I'm a bit puzzled at this and maybe you all can help me out. I have a master mix session where I'm importing session data from 6 different session (6 reels) with a bunch of automation (volume, pan, mute, plug-in). I am using the "Match Tracks" function in the Import Session Data dialogue too. So DX1 to DX1, DX2 to DX2, etc. I am noticing that as I am importing session data from each session, the previous import will be cleared of any automation as if the new session overwrites everything even though the reels are spread out over the timeline (Academy Leader style - 01:00:00:00 - 02:00:00:00 and so on). How does everyone work around this? Thanks. PT9 + CPTK2 |

I think you have to use "Overlay New on Existing Playlists" or something like that, or it wipes everything before it

Yea. Even when I check that box off, it still wipes the preceeding import.

Re: Import Session Data: Automation does not merge?
Becuase the "source" session is seen to contain "blank" automation data before the head of the reel - so it lays that blankness on top of prior material and wipes it.
Known issue AFAIK - you need to compile onto new tracks and copy up, hence track counts going up to 512 these days, to make this easier. I might be missing something but that's how I've most commonly seen it worked around. Boring. |

Re: Import Session Data: Automation does not merge?
After thinking about this for a quick second. It would be great to have a "Range" section in the Import Session Data dialogue indicating a start and end point (TC) to import..

Re: Import Session Data: Automation does not merge?
I suggested that years ago as well. A product manager said "That's a great idea!"
