Default Hardware Inserts - Bug If Using Main Out 1/2?

Hey gang!

Noticing something weird today...latest version of Pro Tools. If I use any hardware insert of our Presonus Quantum 4848, and the track is set to output 1/2 I get no audio...but if I set it to anything other than 1/2 (for instance, 5/6), then it works. I've never seen this before in 25 years of Pro Tools use, either with AVID hardware or 3rd party hardware...what's happening here? Has anyone else noticed this?

Nothing looks off in my IO settings, but perhaps there's a new feature enabled that I'm not aware of?

Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
Sig

Mac or Windows system? (I ask because if it is Windows and the driver isn't multi-client or "exclusive" is set in the sound panel and the system sounds for Windows are assigned to the 1-2 out, then they could be taking it over)

As you can see from the screenshots...1/2 outs are dead on the Presonus 4848 outputs if using an insert, but are fine if 5/6 are used (insert is 3/4)...

This is true for all outputs of the Presonus 4848...only 1/2 refuse to play on the outputs...very odd...

I/O Setup pages... and please not posted on DUC... larger images posted on DUC are useless fuzzy blobs.

Perhaps I'm missing something here...but I haven't changed a thing, just the latest PT update...

Thanks!

And all that looks fine, and yes I'd be surprised if it did not.

And this is in a trivial session with just that one aux track? No other bussing/use of busses going on in the session?

The playback engine is really set to the Presonus, there is not an aggregate device that has snuck in?

Since I'm grasping at straws I'd power cycle the interface, try creating a new empty session, not from a template, and repeat the test there. Maybe trash prefs but can't see how that would do this.

Presonus does not have hardware mixing or fancy routing so that can't be it. I'm going to rapidly run out of ideas.

Ya, I power cycled...made a brand new session...only this one aux is made in all the sessions.

Nothing aggregate going on, I'm simply choosing the 4848 as the interface...like I said, first time I've ever seen this so I wondered if there was some strange new feature I wasn't aware of?

Nothing new I am aware of and I've had H/W inserts running on RME gear here on 2023.9 on Ventura and Sonoma and not noticed any problems.

Wanna see something even weirder now? If you place a Signal Generator after the hardware insert, what do you expect to hear? Tone, right?

Well, not today folks hahahaha...I have no idea what's going on with this rig.
