Default New machine with XP Pro?

If I were to purchase a top spec Macbook pro with 4 gig of RAM ETC and want to run PT LE 7.4 (Mbox 2 Pro) on the windows side (XP Pro) is it better to use Boot camp so that i am not relying on running and application inside parallels inside OSX all the time? Is it possible to run stable pro toolsl sessions on windows on a MAC?

Thanks

with over 400 posts, you would think that you would know how to use the search function.

Yes you can use Bootcamp and yes it runs fine (so I have heard)
No, you can't run PT in any virtual system so no parallels.
Both OSs can run PT, and both OSs are stable.

I guess is you have XP only plugs than bootcamp is your best bet, but if you don't have plugs...it is much better to run it in OSX

Thanks for replies. My next question is "Can I use a 002 desk and an mbox 2 pro on the same system, NOT at the same time obviously but one day use the desk and the next day use the mbox if we're out on the road? And would it just be a case of installing with the normal windows disks? And should I expect any probs with Leopard, assuming it comes with this.

Thanks for the replies

Lloyd

P.S "with over 400 posts, you would think that you would know how to use the search function." - What's that supposed to mean?

You should be able to swap interfaces as you desire. The very latest Macs come with Leopard and are still waiting for official Digi approval but it should be here shortly.

Great thanks. Do you think now is a good time to buy? Or are Apple likely to produce a newer faster machine in the next couple of months. Realisticly I am not going to NEED it until around September time.

I am just curious but.......

Why the hell would you spend good money on a Macintosh just to run Winblows??

That's just LUDICROUS!!!

Why don't you just go and buy a Dell or something?

Sorry dude, but I had to say it.

Hmm...Lets see.

PT is working with the latest versions of windows.

Windows Update has not broken PT's compatibility in anyway in many years if ever.

The person may have some plugs they want to use that would need to be updated for Leopard or MAC OS.

Windows Explorer Vs Finder

No Leopard related Airport Issues.

It just works

I use both OS's and the truth is the MAC fans seem blind to the fact that Leopard has had hundreds of patches and a lot of issues that are only now being ironed out. While Leopard has a lot of new and exiting forward looking technologies the truth is for a lot of us its been about as stable as Windows ME. XP is mature and stable-Leopard is still not quite there yet.
