Strange FCP EDL Behaviour
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if you've ever experienced the following issue when working with FCP, and if so, have any timely solutions for it! I know its more of an FCP issue but we seem to keep posting heads-ups here. The project is being edited on a 24fps timeline, with sound having 24fps time code. FCP version is 6.0.4. Sound was recorded on a 788t. When they export an EDL for me to conform on my PT system, the source in and out timecode of the Broadcast Wave files does not match the actual source timecode of the files. This is error is present when checking within the FCP system as well; the source timecode of clip xxx.wav, when match framed shows a start at 01:02:34:12 whereas the exported EDL shows this as something completely different, usually quite a few minutes apart, something like 01:03:22:01 or something strange. This offset error is not consistent from clip to clip either. I have taken my sound rushes to two other FCP setups (6.0.2 and 6.0.5) and assembled a similar timeline (with only sound/no picture/same sequence and capture presets) and the exported EDL matches the source in/out data for sound correctly. Has anyone experienced this kind of behaviour before? I can't figure out where the error lies. The EDL is of CMX 3600 type. Cheers! Yush |
