Default RELINKING MISSING FILES

Have had a bad accident ... had lost about 60 GB of AIFFs and session data. My query is simple .. my data has been recovered by data rescue ... but the software has completely renamed the files to its own convenience, unfortunately ...

If I open a protools session ... is it possible that protools can find some kind of a signature like space or digital ID or something such that it relinks old files altogether??? If not ... what are the other options available to restore the session data as it is ... ???

Please help

Yours,
Sid

PT will present the options to you when you go to relink. Once you actually try it, it should be self-explanatory.

You use the link window to scale down the search area via the file tree, point it toward the folder where you know the files are. You can change the criteria for finding find links somewhere in there too, I'm not in front of my system at the moment so I don't remember exactly where. So change the link criteria then show it where to search and see if it can find anything. It may not be able to depending on the shape of the files, but that's how you'll go about finding out.
