Mac - Spotlight cannot find ptx files when they are resaved
I use Smart Folders (saved searches) in macOS to easily find and load Pro Tools sessions.
This has worked well, but I recently found a problem: 1. Create a new Pro Tools session - the new ptx session file automatically appears in the saved search folder. 2. Resave the session with File/Save - the ptx session file in the saved search folder disappears. 3. File/Save As and overwrite the session with the same name - the ptx session file in the saved search folder reappears. The same things happens when I directly search for the ptx file with Spotlight. Spotlight cannot find the ptx file when it is resaved with File/Save. I didn't used Pro Tools for a few months, so I’m not sure whether a certain PT update or macOS update caused this problem. I haven't found another application that shows this problem. Can anyone confirm the problem? Thanks for your help. Re: Mac - Spotlight cannot find ptx files when they are resaved
I'm definitely no expert, but I have used a bit of smart folders and folder scripts over the years. Could it be a finder/spotlight problem? That mds process not updating? A simple save in PT is in essence replacing the session file with a new session file.
Does it show up after a while, after a restart? A restart of the Finder, perhaps? Might there be a way to "force" a update of the mac "file awareness"? |

It doesn't show up after Mac or Finder restarts. Some new things I've tried. 1. Close and restart Pro Tools and then open the file from the Open/Recent menu - It does not reappear. 2. Close and restart Pro Tools and then open the file by double clicking on the real ptx file in the PT Sessions folder - It reappears. Quote:
It looks like it's a Spotlight problem on my computer. Strange it only affects Pro Tools. I've got a spare SSD, so I'll try doing a fresh test installation of Mojave to see if there's still a problem.

Different SSD - reformatted. Fresh installation of Catalina 10.15.5 - I was using Mojave. Only system SSD attached. No other third party software installed. Pro Tools 2020.3 New session. Same problem - the session ptx file in the Saved Search folder disappears when the project is resaved.
