Default 10.2.5 made my computer literally explode.

can we get an update on how many people are using 10.2.5 and how it's working so far for them? i haven't seen posts and posts of complaints like with 10.2.4, so i am percieving it to be much more stable. i'm using it now and have had some problems but so far none pro tools related. anyone using it please post results so we can judge the OS update more accurately. pretty please.

Quite frustrated so far, continually getting 'held off interupts too long -9094 error, try increasing H/W buffer size'. I've been doing nothing extensive, just exploring the basics, playing the click plug-in, doing minor edits to a 6track piece with 1 plugin.

Tomorrow I will try recording, I'm not optimistic. I've tried everything recommended except the, erase disk and reinstall back to 10.2.3, that just doesn't appeal to me and I had the same problems back at 10.2.3. That is why I tried 10.2.5 and 6.0.1.

I unistalled PT's and reinstalled without the update to 6.0.1 and it has been performing a little better but not much.

I'm not using midi, I meet the system requirements, repair disk permissions and on and on, blah, blah, blah.

Listen to me whine, I love OSX and ditto for PT's, I would like to use them together sooner than later.

Haven't experienced anything dramatic with the operating system itself. A few minor blips but pretty solid in other apps.

FRUSTRATED!!!

I'd be curious to know which of the 3 configurations (all of which are supposed to work0 folks are using. I have OSX with classic, PT's 6 and PT's 5.1.1 all on boot drive w/o partitions.

Why does everyone jump in for updates and new releases when it hasn't been thoroughly tested yet?
Did you know that many companies are still running older operating systems because they are still testing the features of the 'new' ones which have been out for nearly 3 years?
You guys are not playing with a toy for the most part, it's your business, or at least a serious hobby. Quit making poor business choices and quit complaining. When digi gives the all clear for an update of release, that's a good indication that they've tested it and found out all the snags before *you* have to.

I had to use 2 Protools 6.0.1 LE & Mac OSX 10.2.4 G4 systems for tracking the other day one with a digimax LT & one with a Octopre & I kept getting repeated -9094 errors, the only way I could get this sorted for recording 16 tracks on each machine was to increase the DAE buffer size to level8! This was using a G4 867 & a G4 933 both with seperate 7200rpm IDE audio drives & H/W buffer set to 256k sometimes 512k, which made monitoring thru the auxillary busses to dodgy with the amount of latency.

I am afraid to update to 10.2.5 on these systems until Digi give it the nod, as I am relying on them to be useable for the duration of my project. However I haven't been able to find any info on the digi site about compatibility with 10.2.5 does anyone have any links to what digi have to say on the matter?

Seriosly though, i agree that it's best to wait for digi's blessing on any type of update. i also don't think there's anything wrong with having a pioneering spirit about these things so long as your prepared for the madness (i.e. still able to run a stable "safe" version while testing the new ferrari).
Back to the original topic, i've been running 10.2.5 and 6.0.1 since they were available for upgrade, and haven't had as many problems as the previous versions. The core audio driver on the other hand is still a little buggy on my system, but nothing to cry about.

I'm running 10.2.5/6.0.1 and have done the following without problems:

+ import a PTLE5 session
+ setup MIDI connection to my drum machine
+ edit MIDI
+ mix 14 tracks of audio
+ play plugins, at least one per track
+ editi automation
+ bounce to disk

I cannot do the following:

- play MIDI to my drum machine

I have not done the following:

? recorded either audio or MIDI
? import audio
? whole bunch of other stuff

So, for what it's worth, that's my experience with PT6/10.2.5 over the last couple days. Hopefully I can get some MIDI working, because that's just a disaster for me

And by the way, stop posting threads with subjects like this. 10.2.5 obviously did NOT make your computer explode, so unless you have a serious problem, don't feed the trolls. It doesn't help anything.

Also, to supplement my post above, for non-PT work, 10.2.5 is fine. As was 10.2.4, 10.2.3. 10.2.2, etc., etc., etc. Audio seems to go through big changes with every .update, but for other stuff, every OS X update has been fine. Some people have issues, but that's almost a given for any update to any operating system.

Like someone up above said, if your livelihood depends on this stuff, stick with what works until you know something better is out. Otherwise, take your chances on the bleeding edge with the rest of us, enjoy the benefits of being there, and try not to get pissy if you get bit once in a while.

"Literally"? I don't think that word means what you think it means.
