Default Where is the \"RAM info\"?

I've been a Mac user for many years. I bought my first PC for about a year ago. Seance than I tried other PC machines including my Toshiba laptop, but they've been not that great. In fact, my first PC, a Fujitsu - Siemens P4 2.0 Ghz, was so god that I couldn't really understand all the bashing against PC's. But then, after trying other (PC) computers I realized I've just been lucky )):-
That's why I am considering working again on my first machine which, lately I used only for administrative work.
So, I would like to upgrade from 512 to 1024 RAM.
...but it's not that simple to se which RAM I need.
With Macs it's all in the System Info. Or, on Apple site. (You can get back to the first computer ever and read all about it).
OK, they are lots of PC's and factories dealing with Windows...
I tried Google, Fujitsu's home page. Nothing. I spoke with someone and he told me to open the machine, etc...
Before I do this, is there an (easy!) way I could get the exact Info, spec. for my computer? Some Internet address? Something?

I would also like to change the RAM on my laptop as well.

Sorry for the possible ignorance...
And thanks

/P.

Default Re: Where is the \"RAM info\"?

you need to download cpuz. this utility will reveal basic information about your system similar to the first page of apple system profiler.

clicking on the memory tab will reveal the amount and type of memory installed.

if the machines use DDR SDRAM, which they most likely do, you will need to either check the system manufacturers compatibility documants or play it safe and buy memory manufactured by either kingston or corsair.
