Yes, a very silly PR response that makes no logical sense whatsoever.

Nope. Kontakt ecosystem does not use it.

Yep. Rosetta is just fine. The biggest difference was the new Mac...not switching to Native (still haven't noticed any improvements here between native vs rosetta).

We all know how Apple likes to just drop something we all depend on without warning. That day will come for Rosetta 2 eventually. I'm just hoping to get everything to Silicon Native before that day.

Ah, gotya. So other alternatives are fine after all. Great!

Odd you want to disparage any of these other alternatives in multiple threads regardless of the relevance, but carry on. You're the mod.

Mod hat off here. Most of the time I am just a fellow DUC'er like you.

I don't see how his mod status even entered the picture. I was looking for the word to use for this next statement and realized yours was best: absolutist. There's nothing absolute about copy protection when each method varies and offers different pros and cons. I think (because I feel this way) that he's suggesting that there is no single best method for every application. Though, if I had to pick one, it would be iLok, and that's after considering everything I've experienced over the past of 40 years, including Locksmith 5.0 for DOS.

I don't work for Apple but I can say with confidence that you'll have native versions of the software you need prior to the discontinuation of Rosetta. Rosetta isn't enough of a hindrance for them to kick it out of bed with urgency. It was a very different story for 32/64 bit because the entire architecture had to pick a lane, so holding onto 32-bit slowed the pipeline and Apple felt pressure to move onto 64 exclusivity. With Rosetta, you can use it, or not, and its existence within the OS is benign, so Apple won't feel the same pressure to remove it from their code.

At this point, the apps/plugins I use are pretty well into Native territory, and I'm discovering alternatives for things I suspect will never make the switch due to being abandoned. I also find a purge to be cleansing, and that's how I'm looking at software which will stay on Intel. Find something newer/better. It's rare that I can't do so after a little searching.

Jeez! Brings back nightmares like building massive batch files to run a BBS & FIDONet in the background on a Compaq 386 with 16Mb or RAM running Deskview 386.
