Default I want to go back! (From 7 to 6.9)

I did something I never do...rush of blood to the head...bought the PT 7 upgrade (instead of waiting 6 months). Too many problems, too much time wasted troubleshooting, I want to go back to 6.9.2!!

Any issues I should be aware of?

OK, I won't be able to get my money back, but will the 2 plugins I bought with PT 7 appear in 6.9.2?

Also, will I have to 'save session copy" all new PT 7 projects to get them to open under 6.9.2?
(not backwards compatible?)

Anyone here done the 'backgrade' ?

OS 10.4.3
1.25Gz mirror door, single CPU
2 Gb RAM

Mike

Hey, you may want to upgrade your mac before moving to PT LE 7. A single 1.25GHz would be pretty sluggish. If you go for a dual processor, Tools uses both CPU's now. A 2.0 GHz dual Power Mac can be purchased for under $3k AUD now. I agree with you on the waiting though. I'm waiting for 7.2 or 7.4 I'd say (since I'm still on OS 10.3.5 anyhow). Good luck! P.S. Pro Tools seems to be more & more Windows native these days too. So, you could always save big bucks & get a cheap crappy PC!

To go back to 6.9 from PT7, run PT7 installer and select uninstall. Be sure to choose "Clean Uninstall". Then just install PT 6.7, PT 6.9 and then 6.9.cs4. Then check your plug-ins to sort out any issues there. Good Luck!

would I need to do 'repair permissions' trash prefs etc after re-installing 6.9?
will 7.0 sessions open in 6.9?
thanks.

It wouldn't hurt.

I think you can save a version of them as 6.9 sessions from PT 7 before you uninstall PT 7.

I went back twice with no problems as long as I did it the way described.
