Default Clearing empty space from end of song

I have a song with about 90 seconds of blank space after the end of all regiomns. I cannot clear this out. I have tried highlighting all the space and hit "clear" or "delete" - nothing works. I changed all the selections from "waveform" to "volume" and did the same - still can't clear it. I know if I go to bounce to disk the song will have 90 seconds of silence after it - not good for a CD sequence.

What am I missing here?

When you bounce, you select the amount of the song you want to bounce by highlighting, so the the 90 sec doesn't get bounced.

I don't really understand how you delete the 90 seconds and the region remains. You may have a tempo change or something near the end. Look on the timeline and see if it is clear in that area. Also, check your automation playlists and delete that too although it should have deleted with everything else.

Highlight the excess region while in Grid Mode, then in Shuffle Mode, hit Delete.

Hey Roy - where'd you learn that one? Time for me to stock up on that brain food - Dr. Pepper.

No, there are no regions there - just empty space with no data except for a "volume" line all the way to the end on each track. I just can't rid of the empty space. Seems like the "song" should end when the regions do - but I cannot make it so. I tried Roy's trick but it did not work, and I also do not see where you can define how much of the song gets written in "bounce to disk." Is that a 6.4 option?

Set your audio tracks set to 'waves', and midi tracks to 'notes'...then try the 'trick'. It should remove most of the excess, but will still leave a few measures after the song ends.

Still no luck. This should a simple thing to do since I would think it is a relatively common occurance. Anytime you have a fade out mix you are going to have program material after the point where the master fader is all the way down. I deleted all that material (regions, midi notes) but the length of the file (in min/sec) remains the same.

I don't have the solution Paul...but asking if you don't mind, why is that excess time a problem ?
One would think to enable the default "Group All" and rubber band the empty space + clear should take care of it. Not ??

cheers,

One last thing...are you highlighting the excess from up in the timeline?.....you should be.

Using this method, there IS usually some excess left (a few measures), but 90 seconds seems too much. It should at least clear much of that out, I would think. I use this method all the time...but if this doesn't work for you, I don't know what to suggest...good luck with it.
