i often times use the Royer SF1 on guitars and kick drum...no Royer 121 though, but atleast you're getting a reply. I've heard that the 121 is a good sounding mic, being that it is ribbon, phantom power will kill it...sweetwater has them going for 1100...

ij could be wrong, but i don't think the 121 uses 48v power. the 122 requires 48v power, and Royer boasts that it is the world's first phantom powered ribbon mic. the 122, not the 121. and i'm guessing the 121 came before 122.

The 121 does not use phantom power. The 122 does use phantom power. The 121 will, acording to Royer, only be damaged if phantom power is applied to the cable when it is connected thus jarring the ribon....

The mic was $900, NIB. I'm trying it out. No verdict yet. Sounds a little dull compared to a conderser mic. Only tried vocals and acoustic guitar so far. Too busy remodeling right now.
