Input meter spikes when I record enable.

I have PT10.0.0 on an iMac ox 10.7.5. Last July I had a problem with the input meter spiking when I would record enable. I found the proper driver for PT9 and above, installed it and that seemed to be it. But today it happened again, and I was just recording 2 days ago without any problem. Any suggestions?
