Infamous Dissappearing Region Bug

Has anyone heard anything resembling an answer or workaround to the infamous dissappearing region bug? It has struck again in PT 5.1.1! A couple of observations on our end. It almost ALWAYS happens with audio recorded in other programs (mostly Post-Conform but also SDII). Also do to a workaroud we tried going back one session (which still had the region) and doing a convert region (shift-cmd-k)only to consistently receive a -39 system error on JUST THAT Region. Anyone got any brilliant ideas? Hey Digi - I thought this was supposed to be fixed back at 5.01 cs4?

We've been having big problems with this bug on some sounds recorded with the DEVA. Not all of the DEVA recordings in our library cause this bug, but it's not possible to tell beforehand which files are going to be troublesome.

Digi's workarounds all involve converting or copying from ProTools. It's a big libraray and we'd rather be able to 'repair' whatever it is about the files that is triggering this buggy behavior.
