There is such a sound on the regular Roland SC-88. It´s a comman unit, so if you don´t have it yourself, you might know someone who does or can just mail it to you as a wav and you can mix in as much as you like (like if you have an old recording and like to "morph" it into today...)

if you have Ableton Live, there is such a plug inside that. also, Sampletank has one built in, but sampletank can't recieve external audio. as GW mentioned, the ol' Roland Sound Canvases have vinyl sounds.

I have a 5 second .wav file that is the sound of the needle at the end of the record - after the music and before the label

If you want it, I'd be happy to email it to you, just send me your email address. You could loop it and put it under the music if you can't find a plug-in to do what you want. There may be something in Waves, but I'm not sure.

Cheers,

Izotope has a free DirectX plug called "Vinyl," which does exactly what you're talking about with many different parameters (noise, warp, speed, etc.). But of course, you'll need to destructively edit the wave in a host that utilizes DirectX (SoundForge, etc.).

That is great news - this is the only plugin that I've really missed since switching to ProTools. My clients love it!

thanks,

dave
