Default Anyone: Problems Posting or Replying - from dwkick

I recieved a most sad email from a fellow DUCie
who (since the launch of the new board) has been unable to post or reply.
He wants to know if anyone else has this problem and a solution too.
Here is what Steve (dwkick) sent me in the email:

Quote:
My question is I can't post or reply to a post on the DUC since they changed it. I've sent an email to them and received a reply with suggestions on fixes none of which worked. If you have any suggestions, or at least would start a thread to see if any others had this problem and found a way to correct it I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Steve

Swap to the rescue,
somebody throw him a rope.

I thought the same thing Defretman so I asked Steve about it.
He said he was logged on.
I also suggested making a new user accout but he couldn't:

Thanks for the reply Dave. I have logged onto the board, tried creating a
new account but it says they already have an account for my email address.
I guess he could try making a new email account too but isn't that a little extreme?

Just wanted to let you know, I created a new account and guess what? Still can't post or reply to a post. I get the same message saying the host I am sending from is not a valid host. This could be (but I don't think it is) a problem with my computer. I guess we'll see.

Tell him to check his security settings and that he has accept cookies enabled.
Also if he is running a firewall make sure he hasn't blocked an aspect of the new DUC by mistake.

Could some of you tell me what your internet settings are under tools>options>privacy>advanced? I love cookies but know that just like a lot of cookies are not good for humans, they're not good for computers either and I'm not really familiar with how these should be set to allow me to post here yet not put me at risk on the net as this unfortunately is my primary Pro Tools computer. Thanks Duckies!!! Also, am I really as dumb as I feel right now? After being able to post again, I went back and changed the settings back to the way they were and I'm still able to post. Is this odd to anyone in the know? Thanks again.

Steve

It's probably because the cookie the DUC needs to install has already been installed, so blocking cookies after won't affect the DUC - unless you delete all the cookies on your computer and have the setting at block cookies. If you feel brave and experimental, give it a try

You can leave the setting to accept cookies and every once in a while, just go in to the cookie folder and delete them. It's also a good idea to get Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, update the reference file and run the program every couple of days or once a week. It will allow you to clean out all the spyware installed by some of the sites on the web.

Get the free version here:

Cheers,

Okay, thanks Weed. Yeah, I feel brave, I think I'll try that cause I got an e-mail from digi saying they had changed some things today that might help. So I wasn't really sure if it was what they did or what I did. That way we'll know for sure and have a fix for anyone else who may be having the problem. I can't believe that I'm the only one who's had this problem. Am I the only one who's left all those settings for cookies set to Windows default. I must really be an idiot. But hey, thanks to all the info on here, I built one bad ace computer.
Thanks,
Steve
