Default Any good Pitch Shift plugin in RTAS or AAX?

Hello guys,

I'm facing the need for a plugin that can achieve the same effect as Audio Suite Pitch Shift or X-Form but in real time. I found one called Elastique, which works amazing and is RTAS, but has a HUGE latency so it cannot really be used for real time monitoring (e.g. Playing a guitar while listening to the pitch applied).

Do you know of any good pitch shift plugin with very low latency that can be used for live monitoring? And I mean for native PT.

Thanks in advance!

Francisco

Any plugin that shifts pitch is going to have a lot of latency. What's the purpose of shifting(for your specific needs, that is)? Anything that does it in real time(or nearly) will take processing time to analyze and re-sample to acheive the pitch change.

Hello Albee,

I've had several times where I want to use pitch for real time (e.g. live performance) pitch alteration. A couple of examples that are currently what I need to do:

1) A guy who records his voice in presentations using a -2 semitones pitch in his voice to sound much more like a low voice man, wants to know if there's any chance to apply that effect to his microphone during a live talk.

2) A guitar player that has recorded solos with a doubled signal of the same solo using Pitch Shift (sometimes it's +4 semitones to make it a 3rd, sometimes it's +7 to make it a 5th, etc). He also wants to be able to do that live.

On stage, we use Pro Tools in a laptop to process a couple of signals with RTAS in realtime. Now we want to do this if possible.

P.S. I saw a guy in a vídeo that harmonizes solo guitars while playing them live. He must be using some kind of pitch shifter capable of processing signals at near realtime. I just don't know what he was using, I just noticed he was controlling it on the floor.

TC Helicon or Voice Live processors would be good for this(and they tend to not suffer much latency as they are designed for live use). I work in a band where the 2 singers use those and they are killer. The also do intelligent harmony and the "T-Pain" hard tuning

One of the tricks the TC Helicon uses is to process your instrument at the same time it is processing your vocals and use the instrument's signal to tell it what key to use for the vocal harmony. This way it can "look ahead" and reduce latency. They actually recommend that you try to play the chord on your instrumnet a slit second before you actually sing so that the unit can be ready to process the vocals when they come in. Can take a little getting used to, but once you do, it works petty well.

Everybody knows that presentations with lowered voice with pitch shifter are much more appealing in Cis-dur :)
Sorry, I could not resist.

This guy has recorded a lot of material (talking, voice over, not singing) using a -2 semitones pitch in his voice. His voice actually sounds amazing that way and he now has a lot of followers.

The big problem is: he has never spoken live and he is receiving invitations to do so. Now he has to find a solution to sound the same live.

And... that's kinda my fault. I recorded all of his material and I was the one that suggested the pitch when designing his sound the first time.

So... I now have to help him.
