Default Re: Looking for Dell 690 tips

Hey Guys,

We *just* received a refurb'd Dell 690. This machine is awesome! The build quality is top notch. How did you guys configure your machine? Did you follow the Digi recommened steps for setting up XP or did you just run with it as it is out of the box? I do plan on disabling all those apps that startup automatically, etc, but I just wanted to check in and see how you set your 690 up. Did you perform a fresh install of the OS? Is the SAS controller giving you any troubles?

On our last Dell we wiped the drive clean and did a fresh install. I'm wondering how necessary this is since the 690 is on the Digi approved list. Shouldn't I just be able to follow the recommended changes that Digi recommends for XP? It would seem so.
