There’s been precious little of what you describe as “gratuitous Waves bashing.” Most of it is well-earned by the company’s policies. See the archives, if you will.

i can't make you stop; and since you seem to do it for sport, i guess you won't.
So, the voicing of disappointment, disapproval, must be earned now? Did I miss a memo (or rather, an edict)? Last, but certainly not least, I find that, over time, its the company’s well-manned apologist troopers that post the most incendiary (not to mention off-topic) material around here. See the archives, if you will.

IHTH.

What about another company that never seem to get mentioned. I am no fan of WUP either, mainly because it is too expensive, at a lesser cost (say 50%) I would have no problem with it really, they offer a great service if you have it. I do not think Waves is the bad guy in the plugin industry. In my opinion that title goes to TC, with honours. It will be a cold day in hell before I buy anything TC electronic again.

1. TC Voice Tools (2 plugins TC Intonator, TC Voicestrip) DISCONTINUED

2. TC Master X5 (a paid upgrade from X3) DISCONTINUED

3. TC Tools (3 plugins TC Chorus, TC EQ, TC Reverb) DISCONTINUED

4. TC Spark DISCONTINUED

Actually, of their entire line of TDM plugins and software they have only kept MasterX3. And one can wonder for how long, because they have done nothing to improve it in years anyway.

When I contacted them to ask whether they would consider some crossgrade offer, they acted as though they did not hear the question, beat around the bush, and actually offered me a reduction of 95$ to upgrade TC Works (??) to the latest version of TC Tools which was ridiculous since I own TC Tools and had clearly told them so !!! They warned me that they were not going to maintain it in future but they were willing to make an "offer" in my case and get a little less money out of me. Nice!

I second that. I bought Voice Tools, Master X and TC Tools. Luckily, I hated TC Spark when I demoed it, so I didn't bother with that one.

I totally agree that TC Tools really let their customers down, and I won't buy any more of their products, either. Thankfully, there are many sterling examples of great plug-in companies that bring out wonderful products at reasonable prices and charge reasonable upgrade fees when their products are improved with enhanced capabilities.

Default TC Tools

I don't think it fair to bash TC or any other company for discontinuing products that don't bring in money. Rather, one should be grateful for companies that support old products without charging exorbitant fees. Most likely they're in business for the love of it - respect!

Didn't you have to sign an NDA to become a beta tester?

Do you realize that the N in NDA stands for Non? I doubt think you care anyway - you're an obvious oblivious Waves Cheerleader.

Well, it kind of alters the perceived permanence or archived PT sessions. If you can't recall the plug-ins you used several years ago, you can't recall the session. In that case, the only way to archive a mix is to print stems, and not even bother with archiving the PT session.

As I recall, the demise of the TC stuff was kind of weird. It went away for awhile, then it came back, and now it's not going to be continued.

From an archival standpoint, I guess it's safe to assume that nothing lasts forever. If you don't stay on top of things, they could be lost (or at the very least, you'll expend a lot of effort tracking down someone with a vintage rig still up and running).
