Default good compressor/limiter for VO + vocals

hi

just wanted some opinions on a good compressor/limiter for vocals going into protools. most of the time, i use a soundelux u195 into a ward beck m460 pre, into AD. i used to have access to a distressor, but now have to get my own unit. i like the distressor, but wouldn't mind saving a little money as i'm not really going to be using the unit for much (all mixing done in PT). still, even though my vocal chain isn't the best in the world, i like the sound i'm getting. i don't want to change it with dynamics - just control it a bit.

i will test things before buying, but would love to get opinions on what others are using.

thanks

holly

my signal chain isn't what I'd like it to be yet either. An Avalon or Focusrite preamp is on my "to buy" list. But until then I have a small but clean mixer, I take a direct out from the channel straight into my interface and I bring that into an aux channel in PT. Then I use the Renaissance compressor and EQ to warm things up and I route that to an audio track.

Use the aux because if you put the effects on the audio track they won't print to the audio file.
