Default Digi 001/Pro Tools LE & digitizing LP\'s

Sorry if this topic is a bit off topic, but...I've been using my Digi 001 and Pro Tools LE for about a year for the band I play in...and it is great! The other day I had a friend ask me if I could digitize his LP collection using Pro Tools. To be honest with you...I'd never thought about it. I've been searching the web and have found some good FAQ's for doing this using Cool Edit 2000 and other apps., but not much about doing this using Pro Tools. Has anyone here ever digitized LP's using Pro Tools? If so, I'd be interested in knowing how you interfaced your turntable or pre/power amp to the Digi 001. Or is that even possible? You can reply to me directly at [email protected], if this is too off topic for this forum. Thanks.

You need a special preamp/eq thingy called an RIAA-filter. But the good news is that every normal consumer amp with a phono connection has one. Here's how i transfer lp's into pt

connect the tape-out/rec of the amp to the digi001
connect the pickup to phono on the amp

Or you can get those filters seperate like this one

Yep. If the "receiver" or preamp has a usable Turntable input you're good to go.

I have had good experience taking the rca connections from a turntable into a DI into a pre into the 001

Thanks for the replies. Per Bazzle's suggestion, I connected the turntable directly to the mic/line preamps of my digi 001 and so far that sounds the best. Now I'm going to try Sound Forge v7 30 day trial to check out the Vinyl Restoration plug-in... Thanks again for the feedback!

@jcoker
you mean, you're using the two ins at front ? Do you need to adjust the input-level ?
